GMP Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client in Kidderminster for an experienced Import and Export Shipping Administrator to join a Global Engineering organisation on a full-time permanent contract.

Our client is a highly recognisable and hugely successful Kidderminster business that has seen substantial growth and development in recent years.

Working as Import & Export Shipping Administrator you will be the main point of contact for all import and export administration requirements within the company and advise and develop the most appropriate solutions for the business with support on process set up and improvement, preparing and communicating all information upon request.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate previous experience within import and export for road, air and sea freight - with an emphasis on road desired, as well as relevant training or an accreditation for customs clearance requirements.

 

Import & Export Shipping Administrator main duties:  

  • You will administer the day-to-day import and export operations, ensuring compliance with UK and international import/export regulations whilst following company process.
  • You will proactively identify and troubleshoot logistics issues before they turn into late deliveries.
  • Liaise and communicate with freight forwarders, brokers and vendors to ensure all required administration is completed to required standard and deadlines.
  • Work closely with brokers/customers to ensure the correct duties and regulations of their Country are adhered to.
  • Advise and maintain Commodity Codes required for large volumes of goods.
  • Support on delivery confirmation and chasing of affiliate placed orders, to ensure upfront administration is completed considering the short freight time to UK border.
  • Ensure customs clearance and declaration chasing is completed on behalf of the business to set standards.
  • Build and develop strong working relationships both external and internal customers. 

Import & Export Shipping Administrator desired skills and experience:

 

  • Relevant training or accreditation for customs clearance requirements.
  • 3+ years of experience within import and export for road, air and sea freight with an emphasis on road desired.
  • Experience in supply chain logistics is preferred (customs brokers and freight forwarders)
  • Good team player with ability to work on own initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • IT literate with strong excel skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAP desirable with good numerical reasoning skills. 

 

This is a full time, office-based position, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.

You will be offered a highly competitive industry based basic salary, commensurate with relevant experience to the job at hand.
