GMP Recruitment are proud to partner a highly successful and fast-growing technology company based in Willenhall. We are recruiting on their behalf for an Engineering Manager to join their team on a full time, permanent contract.
Our client is a leading and innovative organisation in a specialist defence related industry and are looking for a flexible and adaptable Engineering Manager to oversee three prominent sectors: Design, Project, and Manufacturing. They have seen substantial growth in the last few years so there has never been a better time to join.
The ideal candidate for this role will come from a managerial background within design, project management and manufacturing. You will possess a good level of computer literacy, be proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word. Ideally, the successful candidate will possess knowledge of Solidworks and Solid Modelling.
Engineering Manager main duties:
- Lead and Co-ordinate internal/external design staff and manage those staff on a day-to-day basis, allocating work between the teams accordingly
- Maintain and develop company works engineering and design procedures and develop and communicate technical best practice.
- Utilise specific software to create models of the product
- Organising previous engineering records and properly reporting new ones to produce the best methods.
- Preparing, scheduling, co-ordinating and monitoring assigned technical and engineering projects to meet budget and deadlines.
- Identifying potential problems with the project, leading the team into developing solutions and ensuring that they are implemented.
- Act as the key interface between the engineering and manufacturing teams; ensuring design for manufacture, manufacturing readiness and the delivery of all production related processes and equipment necessary.
- Developing and creating the prototyping process either by parts, tools, processes, or measurements sets. This is either executed by the Prototype Engineer or outsourced to expert colleagues.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations that apply to the machines and work environment and with all policies and procedures within the framework of the company and H&S requirements.
Engineering Manager desired skills and experience:
- 5+ years in a Mechanical Design, Project, and Manufacturing Environment (preferable)
- Qualified to ONC/HNC (Minimum Level 4) or City & Guilds T4 or T6 in Mechanical Engineering, with a supporting EITB Approved Apprenticeship
- A good understanding of mechanical engineering principles and the ability to apply them in an analytical and methodical approach.
- A strong background in project administration, design, and manufacturing to oversee key elements in all areas (essential)
The standard working hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 09:00am – 17:00pm
This role comes with a highly competitive basic salary of up to £40,000 which is demonstrable with experience, plus additional company benefits.
