GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with an established, global leader in the engineering, manufacture and application of insulation and passive fire protection systems.
We are supporting their recruitment for an experienced Chargehand to join their team on a full time, permanent contract, assisting and overseeing the application of Passive Fire Protection systems and SubSea insulation products in a variety of locations; this will include multiple mobilisations and extended durations at sites both in the UK and overseas.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and be willing to work away from home, travel when required to sites across the UK and overseas, and have a great understanding of managing projects, materials, stock control and be able to learn and understand products related to the company.
Due to the nature of the role – we can consider candidates from all over the UK. The main base will be in Gloucester and you may be required on site here when not working on projects elsewhere.
Chargehand main duties:
- Being fully conversant with the application methods for Company products
- Hands-on application of materials as and when required
- Managing stock control through monitoring use of materials, tools and PPE
- Timely completion of all necessary site documentation in legible, accurate and concise format
- Ensuring all site activities fully meet Company requirements for QHSE at all times
- Cost control to effectively and efficiently meet project requirements
- Reviewing works progress in accordance with the Project Programme, providing updates to the Projects team including reporting any issues or suggesting areas for improvement
- Maintaining strict confidentiality on all matters relating to Company business
Chargehand desired skills and experience:
- Willing to work away from home for extended periods of time, including overseas work
- Confident with independent working and supervising others
- Capable of working to tight deadlines
- Excellent communicators and team-players
- Comfortable with face-to-face client interactions on site – building effective relationships
- Proficient IT users, particularly with Word, Excel and PDF documents.
Full training on products will be provided.

The salary for this position is £23,700 and you will receive excellent fringe benefits and a varied, exciting and challenging work load.
