GMP Recruitment are proud to be partnered with a hugely successful and highly recognised leading international manufacturer located in Somerset. We are recruiting on their behalf for a Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a full time, permanent contract.

This position is rotating shifts working Monday – Friday. 6am-2pm and 2pm – 10pm – with half days on a Friday.  

As Maintenance Engineer you will perform maintenance and repair work to ensure production equipment runs efficiently, this will include some requirements for facilities maintenance, so the successful candidate is required to have a good working knowledge in electrical, mechanical engineering skills.

Maintenance Engineer main duties:  

  • Perform a variety of complex skilled tasks to assist in the daily repair and preventative maintenance of the physical plant and expansion projects.
  • Perform mechanic skills including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Liaise with Contractors as required.
  • Assist in Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) including developing planned and preventative maintenance.
  • Complete work status feedback.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Wear all PPE necessary to task and area.
  • Follow all site safety and quality systems, operating procedures and rules and regulations as applies to certifications, duties and training matrix.
  • Perform any other duties deemed necessary by management.

 

Maintenance Engineer desired skills and experience:

  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (essential)
  • HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (desirable)
  • Good proven diagnostic skills in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
  • Competent in interpreting routers, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, operating instructions, manuals, specifications, and correspondence.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, judgement, and communication skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently and as part of a team
  • Reliable, flexible, and self-motivated
  • Vacuum processing experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Training opportunities for the right candidate. 

This position can offer an immediate start for the successful candidate.

For all the above the successful receive a salary of up to £34,000 which is demonstrable with relevant experience, plus excellent company benefits.
