GMP Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client located in Lydney, Gloucestershire for an experienced Fabrication Parts Chargehand to join their ever growing and successful team on a full time, permanent contract.

Our client is a fast growing and highly successful manufacturing company that has gone through substantial growth in the last few years through hard work and great service.

As the Fabrication Parts Charge Hand, you will be in control of the manufacture of metal parts feeding into a busy welding and fabrication workshop constructing steel containers. You will safely direct the activities of the team members, scheduling their work to meet production requirements.

This challenging position places high premiums on effective teamwork, clear communication, intelligent judgement, and unwavering dedication to delivering product to the production line on time and in full so the ideal candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate experience in a similar, high volume production environment with strong team management skills.

 

Fabrication Parts Chargehand main duties:

 

  • Based on the production schedule, allocate individual tasks to each member of the team.
  • Motivate and drive team members to continually achieve excellence in all aspects of their activities.
  • Ensure the team delivers all materials required on time and in full, identify & record any failures and establish the root cause with subsequent action plans.
  • Monitor and publish daily/weekly/ monthly productivity & adherence to quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain a 5’s philosophy throughout the Fabrication Parts areas.
  • Conduct daily team toolbox talk.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining SOP’s and RA for your area.
  • Ensure all PPE is signed for by the team member (new issue or replacement).
  • Ensure all PPE identified by Risk Assessments is worn at the appropriate times and fitted correctly.
  • Ensure daily routine maintenance is completed and recorded, notify the Maintenance Manager of defects.
  • Report any machinery break down to both your manager and the maintenance team, recording the failure and duration of the down time.
  • Ensure all electrical equipment is PAT complaint, if not, withdraw from use and notify the maintenance manager.
  • Maintaining ISO 9001
  • Manage all SAP manufacturing documentation and book off part completion.

 

Fabrication Parts Chargehand desired skills and experience:

 

  • Excellent knowledge in the Operation of CNC machines, Brake Presses, Drills and Saws.
  • Experience in scheduling and monitoring performance in a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read & interpret fabrication drawings.
  • Ability to read & interpret documents, reports, drawings i.e., safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, manuals etc.
  • Focus on OTIF.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Lead by example.
  • Eye for detail and quality driven, strive to be the quality champion.
  • Able to optimize and prioritise resources to maximise productivity.
  • Physically capable of performing all roles within the team.
  • Full colour vision

 

This position operates at a standard shift pattern, Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 16:30 followed by an early finish on Friday of 13:30. The hourly rate for this shift is £15.28 (overtime is also available).

There is potential the shifts could move in the future to 06:00 – 14:00 and then 14:00- 22:00. If the sift pattern does change, you will be offered a premium rate for the afternoon shift of an additional 20% on the hourly rate.
