GMP Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client in Lydney for a Commercial Manager UK Markets to join a highly successful, rapidly expanding organisation.

Our client is a highly successful, leading engineering firm with who specialise in a wide range of markets including infrastructure, oil, and mining.

As Commercial Manager, you will play a vital part within the commercial team, providing full commercial, contractual and Business Development support to the operating business, managing cross-functional co-ordination of stakeholders in the bid process.

The ideal candidate for this role will demonstrate experience in the UK manufacturing and construction industry. We are looking for a candidate who has knowledge of terms and conditions contracts including NEC3 and 4 Suite with excellent IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook.

Commercial Manager main duties:

  • Support new and existing business within the UK markets.
  • Establish sales targets with the Business Development Manager and leadership team for UK markets.
  • Review and develop commercial operations processes to drive improved performance and maximise growth.
  • Responsible for the full detailed review of client tender enquiry requirements, presentations, and recommendations to the senior leadership team.
  • Manage risk assessments and mitigation for bids and proposals, and for new business initiatives.
  • Remain aware of the latest market trends, sectors, and developments, and represent the company at industry events.
  • Lead the negotiation of contractual terms & conditions and commercial reviews for new business opportunities.
  • Provide the Head of Commercial regular reporting information based upon your work in progress and daily priorities.
  • Maintain client commercial contact on key projects to ensure successful delivery.


Commercial Manager required skills and experience:

  • Degree educated or equivalent experienced professional preferred.
  • Experience in a UK construction service or commercial rental business capacity.
  • Experience in contracts terms and conditions, including NEC3 & 4 Suite of contracts, JCT form or similar.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Previous experience developing offers for clients in a bridge or civil engineering related discipline would be advantageous.
  • Fluent in an additional language such as Spanish or, French (written and verbal) desirable
  • Knowledge of Commercial Export, Incoterms, Letter of Credit, and payment mechanisms.
  • Previous experience with third party and international contract conditions and public procurement processes

This is a full time, permanent position, offering 37 hours per week Monday – Friday. Flexible working is available, and the role comes with 33 days holiday per annum including bank holidays.

The successful Commercial Manager can expect to achieve a salary up to 50K which is pending experience, plus excellent fringe benefits.
